Spirit Athletics Cheerleading and Gymnastics Reviews
One of the best Gyms in South Carolina. The Coaching staff is absolutely amazing- not only knowledgeable but they genuinely care about your child. From gymnastics to cheer to even after school this is definitely the place you want your child to be at.
This establishment is such a chaotic mess from my personal experience. I am never able to get a hold of anyone over the phone and it takes days (if at all) to hear back via email.nMy daughter was evaluated and placed in their spy kids cheer division back in June. Now, in August, they decide to take my daughter off of the team she was placed in months ago. They did not even call me to tell me this! They emailed me on a weekend when I could not get a hold of anybody!nMy daughter will be crushed thanks to the incompetency and lack of communication and coordination from this facility.
A real review from a parent —nnFirst, my child has learned many skills from numerous coaches. The standards set within the gym have been very high in comparison to other programs in the area. The coaching staff is qualified and successful.nnHowever, the business side of SA is very disappointing.nn1. The staff is not always courteous or professional. If you are not a preferred parent or child, you will not be allowed to disregard rules (and others will). Examples- parental attendance in classes and lobby, dropping kids off and picking up in front of doors instead of walking them in, and general interaction with owners/teachers.nn2. The front area is not monitored. Children can roam anywhere without caution. Smaller children cannot open the heavy doors between rooms (seen smashed fingers) and they are not stopped from walking out the door after a class. The “office manager” role is very unclear. Parents/Individuals walk through the lobby to after-school freely. It appears to be very easy to access areas that should be prohibited by strangers.nn3. The restrooms have been completely out of order several times. Tuition fees continue to rise but service continues to fall. As any normal person, I understand random issues happen. Not fixing a repetitive issue and expecting small children to go to a port-a-john or hold it when tuition is $130 per class is bad business. A year ago they were $60- $75 - zero upgrades.nn4. Cleanliness- the bathrooms appear to have urine and other “things” all around the toilets and floor. Supplies are hit and miss- soap, tissue and toilet paper may exist, may not. If staff can’t clean restrooms, I would suggest a janitorial service.nnJust like anything else, a parent has to decide if the positives outweigh the negatives. If I was an owner, I would re-evaluate priorities and my business goals. While other gyms do not provide the same service now, you are quickly allowing room for another gym to take over your clientele.
Poor front office management and owners are incredibly rude when confronted with inaccuracies. If a staff member states an incorrect policy that negatively affects the customer, I would expect the owners to be accommodating to the customer, but that is as far from the truth as can be.
This gym develops in not only their athletic ability, but as people. So proud to have cheered here for 10 years. No gym in the area can ever top spirit athletics.
