Great natural area with an accessible boardwalk across the lagoon to the barrier island part of the park. Pick up some free park guides at the gift shop before you head out to the barrier island.nnAll the staff & volunteers we encountered were FANTASTIC! They happily shared insights into the property and had helpful suggestions.nnThere's also a tram that will take you back and forth across the boardwalk.nnGreat nature center. Ask to see the movie if it isn't already playing. We were the only ones there and the staff offered to put it in for us. Well worth it and you can take 15 minutes to cool off.nnThe gift shop has a nice variety of beach gear & necessities, lots of fun things at decent prices for souvenirs.nnLots of clean restrooms and free parking.
Excellent beach inside a state park. Cost is minimal about 5$ a car. Beach is clean and almost never crowded. There is a tram to take you across a lovely boardwalk where, if you walk, you can stop and see paddle boarders ,fish, birds etc. They have a lovely little gift shop and rent kayaks and dive flags. Kayaks go fast so it's best to reserve in advance! They have clean public restrooms as well. People are very friendly! Only downside is tram doesn't always run as scheduled. We were told it would be back to get us in 5 mins but a storm started coming in and they never returned so a bunch of people, some with little kids, had to make the 6-8 minute walk back to the parking area. If the tram doesn't run during bad weather there should at least be a sign. It may be nit picky but we weren't the only people there who said the same thing. Otherwise it is an awesome place!
Beautiful place to see the ocean and even identify some local plant life. The gift shop had a nice variety of useful beach items and nice souvenirs. Covers all price points.
This is a nice secluded beach. Get spot to relax without tourist. Water is clear with the beautiful green blue hue. The walk through the park was very nice; clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and there is a cute supply and gift shop with rentals of kayaks. Down the road outside of the park is paddle boating. It is a long walk through the park to get to the beach but they have a lovely shuttle golf cart that sits 4-6 people.
I always love this place! Run by top-notch people. Great programs - although could use some volunteers, so more coverage of the place... but I go here every once in a while because it's over an hour from where I live, but it's worth it! Love the hardwood hammocks and beach. It's a walk to get to the beach, but a beautiful one! I think they have shuttles sometimes for those who have a hard time walking that distance, but I don't know much about it.
