Waterhouses: Lodging, Campground & Marina Reviews
This is a large (for Vermont) campground that appears to cater mostly to RVs, families and seasonal renters. Kids can be seen riding their bikes around throughout the day, the sites are very close together (a little neighborhood feel), but an effort has been made to have some natural divisions between sites in a wooded area. Fairly nice bathrooms (with showers) are scattered around and not too far away from any one site.nnThis place is NOT a quiet campsite. The background noises of families and dogs can be heard throughout the day and into the evenings. The campsites also are better suited for RVs in many cases as the main section of each campsite is a hard, gravel base. At our site, this made it very difficult to get stakes in the ground.nnThe worse part of our stay was that they fumigated (with a small truck after 11pm) on the first night. So if you do stay, remember they do fumigate (for better or worse) from time to time, and not necessarily when it's convenient for campers!nnWhat made up for that first night was the kind and helpful staff at the desk (for checking in, rentals and ice runs to the camp store) and the location. The campsite is located opposite the road from the lake and it's only a short walk (or drive) down to the Waterhouses' beach (where rentals and a pub can be found in addition to the camp store). For us the location was also amazing because it's so close to Branbury State Park and the Silver Lake trail(s). I would consider staying here again and I would recommend it for families and/or RV users. If you do consider the Warehouses, just be aware it has both pros and cons.
We camped in our camper here 2 nights and loved it ! We are on #6, very level, fire pit, trash can . We really enjoyed having the lake so close. Bathroom and shower building were very clean! Very clean and well taken care of campground! No sewer hook up so you must plan for that. We will definitely return!
Do not go to site 12, it’s not even a camp site, it’s a parking spot next to the trash, and abuts hits personal gate. Poison ivy at the back of the site. the showers have no pressure, and are too high and not adjustable for kids. The beach area is nice and best part is the pub for snacks and drinks!
After paying a deposit for camping in August ,Vermont was hit with devastating flooding and my camping girlfriend had to cancel because her house was flooded and she needed $$for repairs and cleaning . I called a month in advance to explain the dire situation and was told NO REFUND WOULD BE MADE. They had a whole month to rebook the campsite! What happened to vermonters helping Vermonters? Very disappointed. I've camped several times and this attitude really surprised me
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I love this campground. Everyone's friendly. The owners are great! The campsites are beautiful and large! Many of them are in the woods with some trees between them, which offer some privacy. There's also a nice restaurant and a beach front on Lake Dumore for sun bathing, swimming, etc. There are shared restrooms and showers. Campsite grills. There is internet access. You will need to have a credit/debit card to pay for a day, week, or month.
