Jonathan Dickinson State Park Reviews
Arrived for a last minute 2 night reservation as a refuge from Bahia Honda State Park. Made the call to confirm the park was open and not closing due to a tropical storm watch. Very friendly check in by 2 park rangers. Stayed by river side camping. Our site had an issue with the 30amp, switched to 50 amp and it was resolved. No shade and no privacy but very nice to have a concrete pad so close to bath house. Many ants throughout site and bath house. Walked trails over to educational center and gift shop/kayak rental (gift shop very nice). Drove to look out tower on a very windy day.. beautiful! I would not recommend the “swimming” area with rope enclosure. Kayaked at boat launch where the nicest kayak launch was slightly hidden. Beautiful kayaking and a must do. ***NO CELL SIGNAL WITH VERIZON**** and 2 bars with AT&T
Great RV camping experience! We stayed in the PG loop for 3 nights. The PG loop is pretty far from the river area if you’re walking or by bike, but otherwise it’s very clean and the campsites are spacious. The park has a lot of hiking trails - we did the green loop, it’s about 5 miles long, about half of it is sandy and a lot of hills, very tiring but great views! We also kayaked, which was a great experience, and checked out the observation tower. The park rangers were super helpful and Patrick at the concession stand was very friendly and kind. We will definitely come again!
The pine grove campground at Jonathan Dickinson is one the best campgrounds we have ever camped in, seriously! We were lucky enough to get a two week stay here and we loved it. Full hookups, spacious private sites, clean and beautiful bathrooms, access to miles of walking and biking trails. Sunoutdoors and all your fancy-pants $100 per night private campgrounds - eat your heart out - Jonathan Dickinson State Park has got it going on!!!nnThe park itself is very beautiful. I particularly enjoyed experiencing the unique vegetation of this part of Florida which I had never seen before. There is an observation tower to climb for a great view of the park and the surrounding area.nnThe park covers an area that was occupied by Camp Murphy - an army base in WW2. There is a very interesting history here and you can still see some relics of the camp scattered through the park. My husband is very interested in history and one of the park rangers took the time to explain a lot of it to him, so nice!nnThanks for a great two weeks Jonathan Dickinson!!!
A beautiful park that we just stayed in for the first time. Spacious and well maintained sites as are the facilities. It is really pretty sunny in most sites, but still enjoyable. We took a pontoon boat ride down the Loxahatchee and saw some nice birds, no gators as it was cloudy. Very friendly and helpful staff completed our stay.
We always have the best time at Jonathan Dickinson! Our family loves waking up early, heading over to the boathouse right when rentals open, getting a canoe, and getting out on the water. The staff has always been really friendly and helpful. If you’re there, I highly recommend exploring Kitching Creek (especially if you’re the first ones out on the water), it’s gorgeous back there and is such a fun adventure!
