Hungry Mother State Park Reviews
Beautiful park! We had a great time during a week of spectacular weather. Dave & Cathy were excellent campground hosts! We're already making plans to see you again next September!
Our second year of camping at this park. Great hiking trails and clean campground at Burson. Camp host is the best. He is so friendly and a great worker.nAvery is a very informative guide with the state park. Last year, he led an owl call activity. And this year, we were pleased to see he was involved with the evening canoe trip we signed up for. We hope to return here some day.
I've walked the entire Lake Loop Trail, Clyburn Loop, and Clyburn Ridge trails (they're all perfect for bringing along the dogs) All are well maintained and accurately marked for levels of difficulty. Also, good for family camping, swimming for kids, and fishing.
Hungry Mother State Park offers tons of outdoor fun similar to other state parks across the state. The beach, boat rentals area, trails and campgrounds were in great shape. We especially appreciated most of the park being dog-friendly. The only place our dog couldn't go was in the visitor center. Our four legged friend got to enjoy time out on the trails and the water.nnOur family camped while visiting the park. I was less impressed with the Burson campground compared to the older, Creekside campground. The crowd at Creekside just seemed friendlier. The camp hosts at creekside were amazing. If your travel plans involve staying at creekside be sure to reserve as early as possible, sometimes a year out for the best sites.nnMy only complaint is that the average age of some of the staff there seemed very young. While that's not inherently bad, we had some trouble getting accurate information when we asked. It wasn't a huge problem, but it's something to keep in mind during the summer months if you're looking for information.
Camped at the Royal Oak campground, such a nice campground! Clean modern bathrooms. Walking trails are well maintained and easy to follow. Beautiful fall colors.
