Casa y Museo Federico Degetau Reviews
I've been wanting to go here for a long time. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. We had good timing because they were just beginning a tour. The woman leading the tour was very kind and knowledgeable. It's received many donations over the years from different Aiboniteños. All with a rich history and very interesting. The grounds are beautiful too. Nice areas to sit and take in the cool weather. The place isn't super large but there are two floors with lots to see. I highly recommend this museum.
This museum is a beautiful activity to do in the island. They give a tour inside the whole house which is furnished with antique replicas of furniture related to the same time where the house was built.nIt is spectacular for pictures.nIt is free but you could leave a donation.
This museum is such an exquisite hidden gem in Aibonito. The museum is a renovated, turn of the 20th century home belonging to Federico Degetau. He was a many of many trades but he was also the first Puerto Rican commissioner of the House of Representatives. We were shown around by Guelo, the man who kept this legacy alive and put a lot of hard work into preserving this history. Him, along with many volunteers have done a beautiful job on this place. The museum holds many paintings, pictures, time pieces, and artifacts from Federico and the surrounding Aibonito people and places. There is lots to look at and lots of really beautifully put together descriptions and documents to read. The grounds of this museum is very gorgeous and tranquil and can also be used for a wedding venue. After having visited, I could definitely see what a perfect venue this would be. If traveling to Aibonito, make sure you stop here and check this place out. No entry fee is required but they do accept donations.
