Caguana Ceremonial Indigenous Heritage Center Reviews
Amazing Taino archaeological site, well preserve and very beautiful. I love that these places still exist. Every kid and person should go to the center to learn about the Puerto Rican roots and our indigenous culture.
Beautiful place and rich in history. Brought my wife and children to see part of their homeland. Can't wait to be back when they're older!
If you enjoy carribbean culture or history bluff in general this is a nice place to visit. Off the beaten path is a nice place to sirens some hours and then visit nearby outdoor places. Utuado is a charming town with very friendly people
One of many amazing Taino rich locations in Puerto Rico. This location has the most ceremonial plazas and often hosts ceremonies by Concilio Taino Guatu-Ma-Cu a Boriken. It's not as quiet as some other locations as we could hear things going on on the outside, however, the scenery was beautiful as always. It was very hot, so I highly suggest bringing water. There are a few gazebos that offer shade, but you won't have much of it while wandering the property and enjoying the plazas. When you enter, there's a counter where you purchase your tickets. There isn't much on the inside, but they do offer an optional video documentary which shows the discovery of this location, how they reconstructed it and the importance and theories about all the different plazas. On the bottom floor, they do have a very small air conditioned room filled with more Taino artifacts and information about them.nnThere is also a lot of amazing flora and you can hear and see (just a little bit) a stream off to the left of the property. Seeing the petroglyphs really brings you closer to Puerto Rico's heritage and standing in the center of these plazas feels surreal. Just imagine the festivals and games they enjoyed in these very spaces!
I used to go here as a teenager when it was unregulated, and we had to hike through the bush to get to it. We were young but treated it like a sacred space.nNice to find it open, clean, with parking and clean bathrooms and a museum. We were alone while there, which was a huge plus to just be able to sit down in silence and get the vibes and sounds of this heavenly place and amazing centenary trees.
