Local park with plenty to offer: a big pond for fishing, disc golf, bandstand, play areas, and hiking trails in woods and open areas. Good for all ages. And not far from Mexican ice cream on State Street
This was our first visit.nWe were introduced to Anson B. Nixon Park by one of our children and his wife who spoke enthusiastically about it. After our visit, we had to agree with them.nMy wife and I witnessed first hand the wide variety of activities offered here and we enjoyed seeing how much fun it was for four of our grandchildren (ages 2 through 10).nWe started on the playground equipment but spent the majority of our time exploring trails.nThe grounds were well-manicured and clean.nThe equipment appeared to be well maintained, too. It was a surprise, then, to find the subpar condition of the restrooms. The absence of T.P. was particularly unsettling.nThat said, three stars could be too harsh. I would give 3 1/2 if Google Maps allowed me that option. And I would still recommend a visit (just come prepared if you need to use the restrooms ).
This is my favorite park to visit in the area. They have beautiful trails all kept and clean. The ponds are great and you can fish my family and I come here often.
Nice park to go for a walk in, play basketball, tennis, playground for kids, and sand volleyball. Relaxing and scenic. The duck pond is peaceful. Great place to take a break at or spend an afternoon. The amphitheater is fun for small time shows. Parks are awesome.
