Lotito City Park Reviews
I'm deeply sadden how the parks and recreation of Bluefield, WV can just take it upon themselves to tear down Yakkity -Yak Park. To my knowledge, there was no research behind this park before they decided to do so. Saying it served its purpose when the only thing they did was neglect it by not keeping up the maintenance on it. Which was a simple power washer and some stain. The fence around it served for the kids not to wonder off. It was harder to climb. And mother's could get a closer eye on them.nTheir knew park is going to be fully accessible from all sides, which means a sex offender can snatch your child at any time or fall in the creek and drown. There's no way a mother of two or more can keep their eyes on their children. They just sat up there in their fancy office and looked at a new and improved park and probably no kids and never thought out the pros and cons of their new park or their splash pad . It all sounds great. The splash pad is a cheaper version of not building a swimming pool. This is going to bring in all types of people that you certainly don't want your kids around. Plus your brand new park that's accessible from all sides. The smaller children who try to play on it will be miserable. From the older age group. It's just sad all around.😪
Holiday of LightsnIt took an hour and 30 minutes to get to the entrance. We arrived at 20 minutes before 6pm. They made each car stop at a booth to receive candy canes and a guide card, neither of which are needed. It was also one of two opportunities to collect donations. You can also leave a donation on the way out. Once past that booth it only takes 10-15 minutes to see the lights and you can stop and park about 2/3 way through to walk around, see some craft shops (underwhelming), ice skate in a rink about the size of a large living room, ride a rickety merry-go-round, or ride a tiny 5 bucket ferris wheel that only lifts you about 10 feet off the ground. The light displays were pleasant but waiting over an hour to see them....not worth it!
Beautiful park with breathtaking views, a pretty creek with ducks & a bench with flowers to take pictures. Trails, and train rides on Saturday & Sunday. Picnic tables, baseball stadium, & tennis courts. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the grounds are very uneven and & hard to walk on. They definitely need to do some work on the walking paths around the playground & picnic areas. It is dangerous it is so uneven.
I have been coming to this park for 35 years. Many, many improvements have been made, and all of these are great. As several other people have mentioned, it takes a considerable amount of money and time to make sure that the grounds are clean and that all equipment is safe. It also takes a large number of VOLUNTEERS to keep it all up and running. I appreciate everyone who does anything to help make this park a success! The ONLY issue is that a BATHROOM NEEDS to be available during daylight hours. From children to youth to adults to the older among us, including some who have physical ability challenges NEED a bathroom to be available quickly. THANK YOU.
The Holiday of Lights was spectacular!! I would highly recommend if you haven't gone to see them it is absolutely worth the trip!!!
